East Midlands Airport Information
General Information
East Midlands Airport opened to the public on 2nd April, 1965. The site, which had previously been a Royal Air Force base, was chosen by Derby City, Nottingham City, Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire County Councils after they decided the region needed a new Airport to replace 11-year-old Burnaston Airport which had a grass runway.

Travel Directions
By Car
East Midlands Airport is in the centre of the country, surrounded by the cities of Nottingham, Derby and Leicester and within easy reach of Sheffield, Stoke on Trent and Tamworth. The Airport is easily accessible from all parts of the UK, either by road or by public transport.
By Train
The railway stations of Loughborough, Long Eaton, Nottingham and Derby are all located just a short bus or taxi ride from EMA. These are all served by the main InterCity trains which are operated by Midland Mainline and Central Trains.
By Bus
Flightlink operates regular services to and from East Midlands Airport from Bradford, Leeds, Sheffield, Chesterfield, Luton, Heathrow and Gatwick.
